B&M Tuesday

I left my ring at FI's house yesterday Cry
We were painting the house and I put it away. I forgot to grab it when I left. I don't see him again until Saturday.. Now I'm ringless all week.

Oh, no! Well, at least you know it's in a safe place!

I'm bombing the house today. Stupid roaches, not staying outside and then inviting spiders in on top of it! It's just an annoyingly massive cleanup that I'll have to domostly by myself because R works till 9 and Roommate has lung issues and can't be around the house till it's completely aired out.

<div>Isn't it best for ALL of you to stay away from the house until its completely aired out? I mean, you wouldn't want your kids to inhale the chemicals would you? Whenever my mom has to fumigate her tenants apts, she tells them to go over to a family or friends house for a few days so that the chemicals are gone. You can do what you want but in my opinion, if it matters, you and everyone in that household, should stay somewhere else for a few days if possible. </div>

I have to go back after 4 hours to air it out and then leave again for at least an hour before I can clean; she won't be able to come back till late tonight or sometime tomorrow when the house has been able to breathe for several hours. She's lost 96% of function in one lung (chronic lung problems since childhhod) and can't risk damaging the other one.

Unfortunately, staying out for a few days isn't an option, but my mother has already said the kids, Scamp and I could hang out at her place till bedtime, by which point the chemicals should have dissipated. I have no one else to clean up for me afterward, so I'm going to borrow my youngest sister to kid-sit while I get cleanup done. May have to go back and feed the baby but I don't want her in the housewhile I'm cleaning. My dog ikes to randomly lick furniture so I'll have to go back and wipe off everything he might lick before I can bring him home, not to mention washing the dishes, counters, and tables, and cleaning the floors. It's enough to make me want to shake the landlord for not keeping up on the preventative spraying!

You can't get the landlord to hire someone? It's their responsiblity

We tried. We went to the leasing office in person four times in the last three months. He wouldn't keep up on the pest control - so the problem just got worse and then he told us that he won't get back onto the pest control until the place is bombed to kill what's already invaded.

Four more months. Just four more months. Then the lease is up and we can find somewhere else. I never wanted this apartment anyway - it was all we could find on  the very short notice we had after R's parents decided to move out of town and we weren't going with them

One of my friends went through this, and convenience to her, her lease was up as well, but it's the responsibility of the apartment complex to keep up with pest control appointments, and services.  Else it becomes a health safety issue for those living in the apartment.  She could have pressed it, but she did warn the apartment leasing office that all it would take is a health inspection anonymous tip to shut this place down, and the apartment people would be in a right mess!

As a result, they did accomodate people by allowing them to pack a suitcase of clothes, and live in vacant aparments that they owned across the street until the pest control bombings were complete.

You should be able to get out of the lease due to it being unreasonable living accomidations.

I personally wouldn't bring a newborn to a recently fumagated apartment. Is there anywhere you can keep them overnight?

I'll ask around; we might be able to borrow an air mattress on a living room floor for the night.

Not getting enough done... my phone keeps ringing with those "important but non- productive" calls and I had an overly late lunch for the second day in a row... now I'm experiencing the unpleasant afternoon drop off which is further slowing me down.
