  The place where we went is kind of both -- Hennepin County Southdale service center. I would either check online or call ahead to make sure they do marriage licenses.
  
  Also, we walked away with our license that day, but the beginning date that it was valid was five days later.

  We did ours at Hennepin County at the Maple Grove Service Center.  We went online and filled out the application and then made an appointment online as well so it took only about 10 minutes total when we actually went in and signed the papers since everything was already filled out

  Mine came in the mail about a week later.
