Know any good furniture stores?

My FI and I just bought a house in Chester County, PA (yay!), but now we have to furnish it (boo!).

You can't pass up the tax free shopping in Delaware, so does anybody know of any decently priced stores in the Wilmington/Newak area? We're willing to spend money to get nice stuff that will last for years, but we're not loaded or anything.

I like American Signiture Furniture * i think that's what it's still called* it's on route 40 in bear ( right off of route 1). I've been there for several things. There are so many furniture stores in Delaware now that I think of it! It's kind of crazy...

My dad just got some great furnitire from Furniture N' More by the Target in Brandywine Town Center.  I know its a cheesy name but they sell Ashley furniture and other recognizable brands but they sell stuff that has been discontinued so its pretty cheap.  Dad got a sofa, loveseat (microfiber and they recline) coffee table, 2 end tables, area rug, 2 lamps for like $1000.  They also have a gallery store across the street on 202 where the old Klaussner Furniture was.

I have also shopped at Furniture n more and gotten some great items at a great price.  They carry the major name brands but have really great prices.  The store on 202 is having an Everything must go sale right now.  Not sure if they are closing the store or just moving.  There are other locations in southern DE too.

We usually shop at Furniture Barn, on rt 40.  Good, quality items.

There is also Ashley Furniture, on rt 40 and on 202.

Cohen Bros has a really good reputation, and nice stuff- higher end pricing, but not out of control.

I stay away from American Signature- their employees work strictly off commission, and they hunt you and hound you like a piece of meat.  Plus, we have had really, really bad experiences there.

Also, remember that, by law, if the store in DE delivers anything to you in PA, they are required to charge you PA sales tax.  Make sure you pick it up yourself to avoid that.

I agree with MBR...I love AFS when it was Value City Furniture and bought some nice things there, but now that its AFS they do hunt you down.  They are all standing at the door waiting for you to come in and they pounce on you.  I got my kitchen table and sofa table at Furniture Barn for around 600.  The people there were very friendly, but not overbearing.  They have a ton of furniture from different designers...I felt they had the best deals when I was shopping for my house.

If you want to find some unique pieces, check out the Annex Marketplace in Wilmington. They do estate cleanouts- so you can find high end items marked down considerably. I prefer a vintage feel, so it's like a candy store :)
