Bridal Show Entries/Prizes

So I was at a bridal show this past Wednesday and got a call that my entry was selected and I won an X amount of $$ off a DJ service. Just wondering, are these prizes legit, or just something to get you to call them back and hear their sales pitch?

Anyone have experience with this?

It depends on the wedding fair. Usually the giant ones have vendors that are purely out for your money and aren't necessarily 'budget' vendors, they're mostly big, corporate ones.

The prize you got sounds legit, but wouldn't hurt to check with your local board :-)

I won a set of Mr. & Mrs. wine glasses at the wedding fair I went to on sunday, lol.

In my experience, I "won" a lot of stuff after I went to a bridal show. I would think it's a sales pitch to try to get you to book since you've "won" something.

Either way, it IS a discount, so if you're intersted in the company, do some homework and maybe book them. But I wouldn't get all excited about winning, it's probably just something they use to call customers back after the show.

Some of the prizes are legit... Do you remember going by that booth and giving him your info? Most of the time once you sign up at the front door all of the vendors get your info. I would say that it wouldn't hurt to call and if there is a catch.

I was at the same show on Wednesday, and they had a bunch of prizes avaiable so it could definitely be legit. If they gave you the name of the DJ I would look them up in the program and online. Congrats by the way

Yes, they gave me the name of the DJ, and we actually did stop and talk to them, so maybe I'll get them a call later today.

turtleslove - Cute caricature! I didn't even see that booth, or where they were doing those! What did you think of the show? I was a little overwhelmed with info, but all in all, a nice show Oh, and my mom and I were overloaded with cupcakes and cake! Are you getting married in Madison?

I've "won" prizes from American Laser Skincare and some other national Bridal something or other and just ignored the calls. I've actually stopped giving my phone number at those things and just stick with giving my wedding email address.

No, not getting married in madison, we picked a venue in Viroqua, WI. Are you? Love that city!!
I had one cupcake, but on top of a truffle and a martini that was more than enough! The caricature guy was on the far end where you cast your vote for your favorite table display. I really liked the ones on the right side of the stage.
Thought it was a nice event, a bit crowded though. We got there before 5 and there were already a lot of people! Are you going to the one at Monona Terrace on July 15th? I am just because my other MOH was unable to make it last minute and she wants to do something together.

I didn't realize there was one at the Monona Terrace....hmmm, might have to consider that one

I'm currently living near the Madison area, but not getting married in this city. The date we selected is the same day of the UW graduation, so we opted for Pewaukee for wedding. (Plus, I grew up near the Milwaukee area, so most of my family is there).

My mom and I got to the show right at 4 and there was a line to get in. I thought it was busy as well. Plus, the aisles didn't give much room for getting through (especially over by the "bar" and all the cake booths). I think we left right before the fashion show because our arms were killing us from the bags with all the loot inside - haha!

I've gotten those too, the American Laser Skincare is essentially a scam. If you want laser hair removal, just go to a dermatologist or Ideal Image.
