Caprese vs. traditional salad (poll)

My fiance and I really enjoy caprese salad (fresh tomatoes + basil + fresh mozzerella) and made it together during one of the first weekends we were together.

I would maybe like to have this as the (plated) salad course at my wedding, but I know many people don't like tomatoes.  Which would you prefer?

I personally LOVE caprese salad, but I do think that a house salad would go over better with more guests. If there was any way to offer both, that could be cool!

If there was a way to offer both, I'd do it. But I too agree that a house salad would probably go over better. Maybe could have a caprese hors d'oeuvres?

    Ditto

I've had caprese salad before, & didn't like it at all.  If I were a guest, & it were the only option, it would go to waste for me.

I would go with traditional, for the guests.

I'm going to be the odd man out and say I think the caprese salad is really different and fun, espcecially because it's special to you and FI. I vote caprese!

I do kind of like the appetizer idea...

I love caprese salad, but if it were me I might pick traditional for the sake of my guests.

I personally love caprese salad, but I think for the enjoyment of most guests, you'd probably want to go with a "safe" salad choice.

Love the idea of doing little caprese skewers during cocktail hour, though!

I think that if everything else in the meal will be traditional - have that one item (the salad) to reflect you & your memories of that first weekend together.  There aren't as many picky eaters as people think.  I just saw to extreme picky eaters: grow up & appreciate you have food.  Everyone can have that one or few things they don't like.  But don't think that more than half of your guests won't appreciate what is being served to them.  Just my POV.

I think it depends.  If you're serving more Italian influenced food for your meal, then you should totally do Caprese (one of my faves too!).  If you're doing a more traditional non ethnicly influenced dinner, then classic salad would probably be best.  We did a German influenced meal for our wedding but even then, our salad was pretty traditional.
