Star telegram Bridal Show

Has anyone gone to a previous one or planning on going to the one on Sunday? I'm debating on if it is worth it to go.

Re: Star telegram Bridal Show

  • I found most bridal shows to be overwhelming and useless. Also, if you go, DON'T give your your phone number or email address. I was basically phone-stalked until my wedding date.

<div>This for sure.  I didn't even go to a bridal show, I just signed up for one, and I got SO MANY useless emails and phone calls.</div><div>
</div><div>A lot of vendors will give discounts if you meet them at their shows, but you have to know who/what you're looking for.  Like if a photographer you want is going to be there, it might be useful to go.</div>

  • I completely agree with PP's. I went to the Star Telegram one and it is just incredibly massive and overhwhelming. However, I did find my caterer at one. So, if you're looking for one or two specific vendors (and willing to skip the rest of the booths) then it might be worth it. If you haven't already, make a new e-mail address specifically for wedding vendors. This will help cut down on the spam in your regular e-mail address. Also, as PP mentioned, NEVER give out your phone number unless it's truly a vendor that you want to contact you. Also, don't sign up for the "free giveaway" from the Star Telegram at the beginning of the show. They WILL sell your number to random businesses that you won't even care about (e.g. Pampered Chef, 1-800 registry, etc.) and said businesses will call you at all hours of the day and night.

Another option would be to attend one or two smaller bridal shows instead of a massive one like this. I went to several by this company (http://www.fdlbridal.com/#!Dallas/ccmk) - previously called I Do Save, and they were intimate enough to actually be helpful. You might be able to find some other small, local ones just by googling.

  • Ditto to the PPs.

I went to two and both were overwhelming but I did win a free makeup trial that I used for my e-pics and I got a discount on my photobooth. If you just want to experience a bridal show, go and don't give your information. If you are really interested in finding vendors look them up ahead of time so you won't waste your time.
  • I have to agree. I went to one in January and there wasn't one vendor their that I ended up using. Alot of vendors will give discounts. But even with some of the discounts I was still able to find many of my vendors for a better price.

  • I hated it because it was ridiculously packed, but I received a great discount at Classy Concepts in Mansfield because I signed up at their booth, which came in handy when I bought my dress!

  • Bridal shows are evil!! Overwhelming!! Filled with brides running around and slapping their preprinted informationlabels down on everything they can. My experience was awful and it was a complete waste of time and a nightmare of a ruckus.
