Minnesota-Minneapolis and St. Paul

Weather on Saturday 7/16/11 :/

I know we live in MN and the weather is very unpredictable. This weekend is my wedding and it has been staying around the upper 80's. Now its saying 92 and partly cloudy. Our ceremony is outside and is only about 20-25 mins tops. Does anyone have any idea of anything we could have to keep people cool. Everyone is in direct sunlight. I was thinking maybe some umbrellas but then that would block peoples vews. TIA!!!

Does your venue allow any kind of a tent that you could rent, or borrow from someone?

You could rent umbrellas or parasols for your guests to hold. http://bellaumbrella.com/ and you could bring fans for people to use. But make sure to have LOTS of water so no one overheats.  Good Luck!

I would suggest getting people something to fan themselves with- paper fans or something.

I would also buy a couple big tubs and a bunch of water bottles and throw in ice so people can have ice cold bottled water at the ceremony, like PP suggested.

I agree with the fans and cold water.  As long as the ceremony wasn't too long, as a guest, I wouldn't mind as long as I had something to fan myself.

And I know this sounds a little odd, but maybe have a tube of sunscreen in someone's purse if it's going to be in direct sunlight.  That way if a guest is extra concerned about the direct sun (if it's super sunny), they can slather a little on.

    So In Love

I'm getting married on a beach and am planning to have three huge tubs of water with ice and I made program fans to help keep guests cool. I also purchased 20 paper parasols from online to help shade those who would like it. Best of Luck!

I also agree that fans and providing water will help keep your guests a little more comfortable. I am sure everything will turn out wonderful for you day! :)

I agree with water, and fans. What kind of programs do you have?

If the heat index or humidity rise to be super uncomfortable, I'd consider moving the ceremony inside or to the plan B option (I'd assume the golf course has rooms indoors you can use). It's not the ideal situation when dreaming of an outdoor wedding, but sometimes is better than letting guests get heatstroke. Some heat is just too much (just like a light rain wouldn't be bad but certainly would not want to stay out there for 20 min of torrential downpour. Same w/ heat with humidity) I hope the temp works in your favor though!

Majority of our guest are young so it shouldnt be a problem having it outside.  Our ceremony is 20 min tops. We do have programs that could be used as fans. I made them specifically for that reason. Just wanted to know of another option for something to keep everyone cool because we dont have the same amounf of programs than guests. Im not worried about the weather just wanting to make sure poeple arnt too uncomfortable.

Our wedding is the day after yours and is also outside. We are having a very short ceremony (15 min) and are providing guests with bottled water. We are keeping it on ice in coolers and the ushers will direct them to it. We are also giving all of the women fans as favors, so that should help. We are giving my grandmother (who is 95) a paper parasol.
