Prayer Request!

A month or so ago, my mom was drying her hair and she accidentally hit herself in the eye with her brush. When she went to an eye specialist, they did a chest x-ray just to be sure nothing else was going on... and they discovered a tumor near her esophagus. After many tests and an endoscopy, she will undergo surgery tomorrow to hopefully remove it. The dr. thinks it is benign (non-cancerous), but isn't sure. If they get in there and it is in a good spot and benign, they will remove it and she'll be back to work in a month. But if it's in a bad spot and/or malignant (cancerous), they may have to remove part of her stomach and esophagus and/or administer radiation... which would be worst case scenario. It is a blessing that she hit herself with that brush, though, or they wouldn't have caught this so early! Prayers for a successful surgery and that it is benign would be great! Also prayers that God will give my mom and our family peace and comfort. Thanks girls!

  • Hope it goes okay.  My dad had cancer twice but through flukes they caught it very early like with your mom.  He's alive and doing great years and years later.  Prayers.
  • I'll be praying. I hope everything goes okay.

  • Thank you so much girls! The prayers worked! The dr. was able to remove the tumor and he said it looks benign under the microscope (praise God!), but he won't know for sure for a couple days when the biopsy results come back. If it is cancer, it's a low grade. It was attached to her esophagus, so she has sutures and is in ICU tonight to make sure the esophagus is healing properly. They should be moving her to a regular room tomorrow. Thanks again for praying! You girls are wonderful.

GJones- I am glad your dad is okay!
  • Glad to hear!  Makes me very happy.  Sometimes, I get scared I'll get esophagal cancer like your mom (I have bad gastrtiis and GERD, which creates a high risk).  I should probably get things checked out like her.  Hope the biopsy goes well, too.
  • Thanks, GJones! You should definitely get things checked out. My mom's biopsy results came back and the tumor was benign- so no cancer, yay!! She went home from the hospital this evening. Thanks again!
