Sonesta Maho in St. Maarten

Has anyone been to Sonesta Maho beach resort in St. Maarten? Any thoughts on your experience would be great!

    It's nice, but very close to airport and can be loud due to planes taking off right from the beach by the hotel.

    We just came back from St. Martin on Friday. The Maho area is just far too built up for me, and I agree, it's probably noisy being so close to the airport. And your view might totally suck.

    I have stayed at the Sonesta Great Bay Beach Resort. I stayed there only 1 night for transit reasons. It was okay and I believe the Maho gets better reviews. But, if you want to be located very close to the downtown area, it may be the better place to stay. The beach area was large, but the sand wasn't  the best and the view was of the bay (hence the name) and you could see the cruise ships in port. The staff was very friendly, though. The rooms were in need of an update, but that was several years ago and it may have been renovated since then.

The beach is gorgeous and the food in Grand Case is the best on the island. From our place we would walk three minutes down the beach and get chairs with umbrellas at the Rainbow Cafe every day which are free with the purchase of a soda or whatever you would like to drink or eat.
