Someone bought the wrong plane ticket

I had a bridesmaid that got pregnant and can no longer go to my wedding because she is due at the same time and can't fly then. She wanted to come to the bridal shower though. She emailed me asking for a time. I later called her and remember talking about it.

Whether or not she actually knew a time or not for the Bridal Shower, am I the one to blame that she bought a plane ticket to come in at night without knowing what time it would be?

She said that she had planned a whole trip around coming to this shower.

She also bought the bridesmaid dress and shoes before getting pregnant and now will not be able to wear them.

I offered to pay her half of the wasted money, but she said no.

    I really don't understand how this could have happened. Did she know the actual day of the shower or just what weekend it was? This whole situation perplexes me.

    She knew the day and date. but why would someone assume that it would be at night...a BRIDAL SHOWER at night...and I think that if you are unsure...CALL ME...she didn't...she just said she emailed...we spoke after the email she sent...

    When in doubt you always err on the side of caution! EARLY?!!

    Yeah if I had a party to be at the same day I was flying in I would try my best to get the earliest flight I could so I could settle down before having to go out. The only thing I can think of is that she did the priceline "name your own price" where they don't tell you the times of your flights until after you pay and she lost the gamble and got a late flight.

    You can probably change the flight for a fee.  It might cost $100-150.  Since she's out the dress and shoes, you might consider changing it for her if you can swing it.

    I agree that it sucks to do a priceline, but that's like me getting a plane ticket time blind for a wedding...you just don't do that.

    I don't know I feel kind of guilty but at the same time, I would never think of buying a plane ticket without knowing for sure, EVER.

    It seems as though she is trying to blame me, which makes me angry, since she coordinated it into a business trip anyway. UGH!

    I also asked if she wanted to go to eat late if she does still come...and got no reply...almost as if she was never planning to show and just acted as if she was going to.

    the shower's apparently worked into a business trip so I couldn't change the ticket if I tried.

    The problem is she is placing the blame on me and the other bridesmaids and is acting as if we ignored telling her, when in fact I told her. Even if we did ignore her I still don't understand her blaming me for her buying a blind ticket.  Now I feel guilty because of her guilt trip attempt and angry because I really don't think I deserved the blame and guilt trip and even tried to remedy it...I would like to know if there is anything I should do or say after all of this or just ignore it/forget about it.

    See, now it all makes more sense.  You don't deserve the blame or guilt trip and your friend is acting like a brat, based off what you told us, unless I missed something major (which is entirely possible).  But you offered to help pay, she said no, so I don't think there's anything else you can do.

    I don't think you should feel bad about her having bought the dress or the shoes, either. She got pregnant... It's not like you kicked her out.

    If she coordinated it into a business trip, it's probably because her company is giving her the money back for her plane tickets.  She could pay for her own one-way ticket a day earlier, just like she could have payed for a round trip if she hadn't tried to save money by coordinating the business trip.

    Of course I wouldn't suggest that to her because I think she's already insane.

    I found out today that she is sharing a rental and scheduled the flight for right before a supposed business conference call at eight at night, which means she never intended to even factor it in...and said eff it, but yet still says she planned an ENTIRE business trip around a bridal shower at night...WOW...
