How should I distinguish MOH from BM?

My Matrons of Honor and Bridesmaids are wearing the same dress and the same necklaces. What is a unique way to distinguish the Matrons of Honor from the Bridesmaids? I would like to make it noticable, but also suttle. Thank you!

  • Ditto both PPs.  I truly don't understand the desire to make your MOH stick out.  To me it's more of a slap in the face to the BMs, saying "I want to make sure nobody confuses her for JUST a BM."  They are already standing closest to you, and are listed in the program as the MOH.

However, as Milkduds said you could do a bigger bouquet or a sash if you really feel the need for them to stand out.

  • I'm not doing anything to distinguish my MOH from the rest of the others. I mean to begin with I have a MOH because i thought I was supposed to have one. In reality my friends are all important to me equally. People would know who the MOH is because of her placement at the ceremony and in pictures.

  • Thanks everyone. :) I figured people would know who they are.

  • you don't need to distinguish them...i personally dont like when bms wear different dresses, colors, etc...my girls are all wearing the same dress, jewelry, and hairstyle

  • I didn't differentiate.  It was pretty obvious who the MOH was when she straightened my train and held my bouquet during the ceremony.

In our best man's wedding, the MOH (bride's sister) wore a different dress and was the only BM to walk alone down the aisle.  She was pissed.  She didn't want to stand out or be noticeable.  So, word to the wise - be sure your MOH is ok with standing out before making any decisions!
  • My MOH will have a different set of earrings but it all came from the same line. She will also have a few Catalilies in her bouquet. That is how I am distinguishing her from the BM's   :-)
  • My MOH has an orange sash on her dress.
