Getting ready photos sadness?

So I realllllly love beautiful "getting ready" photos, including the boudoir sort with just the veil & assorted undergarments on. Howeverrrr, I'll be getting dressed in my parents' house, which just doesn't have anywhere nice to take these pictures! I don't want to attempt them with a bunch of crap in the background, so I'm guessing that I just won't have any nice getting ready photos. Anyone else in the same boat?

I am getting ready at my parents house... which I think will add so much meaning to the pictures. They also have a gorgeous house so taht helps. I wuold go to your parents house and look around and see where the best pictures can be taken.

I won't have any getting ready photos

Our photographers are only for 5 hours, starting at the ceremony.

My parents' house is very cramped & cluttered, without asking them to do a major overhaul there isn't really anywhere we could do the pictures. I also doubt that much would really get done if I did ask them to do something like that. The reason we're getting dressed there is that its like 5 mins from the church so it just works out best.

could your photographer take some at the church when you get there? touching up make-up, etc?

I'm getting ready (and married!) at my parents house, and also am a little worried about this.
However, I think a good photog can make pretty much any "environment" appealing. Like chelsea, I think it will give really cool meaning to the photos.

What if you take most of your pictures by a mirror (you could bring a full length mirror) or windows.... I agree with Alli, a good photographer should be able to work with your parents house and make the photos look lovely!

ETA: You can also tell your photographer to take mostly closeups- that way the background just really doesnt matter!

My suggestion as well. My photographer will take photos of me getting dressed. My BMs will go dressed but she'll get pretty dress pics, getting dressed, FI's nametape in my dress, garter, etc

You could also look into getting a hotel room for the night before for just the 'girls'. I do the name-your-price on priceline and have never paid more than $50 for a four star hotel.

Thanks for all the suggestions! The church actually doesn't have a bridal suite or anything. They just block off the windows in the "crying room", which is a separate room that we have for people to go when their babies start screaming. Most brides come to the church already dressed apparently, and my dress is a little too humongous to load in and out of a car.

I like the mirror suggestion, maybe I'll see what my photographer can do. I really love when the pictures are in front of a window, but there's just too much furniture near every single window I can think of. In my room there's my bed on one side & dresser on the other, my sister has a window in a corner that has her dresser right next to it, etc. The rooms are too small to be able to move this furniture to the side to get just a shot of the window. Rrr!!

I'm super excited to have my getting ready pictures taken in the Kindergarten room of my church, complete with all kinds of fun toys. I'm sure most of it will be close up anyway but myself and all of my bridesmaids are looking forward to having some fun while getting ready.

This is a tip from a photographer's blog (clicky). I think making a conscious effort to clean up the bathroom and one room for getting ready will result in some good pictures.

I also like the suggestion of doing touch-ups at your venue.

Photo shop...Have your photographer take all the pictures that you want and see if she can put a different background behind you? For our engagement pic the lady did that with some of them and they turned out amazing.
