Family ceremony with the step kids

My Fiance and I are planning on a destination wedding with just the 2 of us.  We will be having a reception when we return with all our family and friends.  Im looking for ideas for a family ceremony we can do at the reception.  I have 4 step children ranging in age from 5-12.

They are a very important part of my life and would like to have spomething special for them as they will not be there for the actual wedding.

Family ceremonies tend to be frowned upon on these boards, because marriages are contracts between two consenting adults, and because the child didn't make the actual decision, they shouldn't be involved in 'ceremony's'.

If you want to honor them, maybe do so in a speech?

Dedicate a toast to them ... adults have champagne, kids have ginger ale served in champagne flutes.
  • This is a perfect opportunity for a sand ceremony since you will be a blended family. No vows, just pour the sand in and leave it at that.
