Armstrong Farms vs. Shady Elms Farm?

Hi there!  I'm recently engaged and just flew home to try to find a venue for our July 2013 wedding.  The two we were most excited about are Armstrong Farms and Shady Elms Farm....and, I can't decide!

I'd love to hear your experience if you have had your wedding at either.  I'm most concerned about the negative reviews of Armstrong Farms highlighting that the owner is not responsive after receiving a deposit, as I'm planning our wedding long-distance from San Francisco.

We absolutely loved Shady Elms Farm, and only wonder what the barn is like if it is super hot or humid....

Thanks so much for your advice!
Sarah

Re: Armstrong Farms vs. Shady Elms Farm?

  • We had our wedding at Armstrong. Kathy was hard to get in contact with between the deposit and a month before the wedding. We were able to do everything we needed without her. After I wrote about it in my review she had the balls to call me and ask me to change my review. She claims that she was spending so much time with the "out of town" brides that she didn't have much time to get back to everyone that called her.

The farm was beautiful and she was great the day of. If I had it to do all over again knowing what I know now I would still book the same farm. Her lack of response was not enough to turn me off of the farm. There is another person that works with her that is named Amanda (?) and she was easy to talk to and responded quickly.
