Ok poll...are you having ushers wear what the groomsmen are? I would like the ushers wearing something else but my mother is making this huge deal...

Some of our ushers are in the military so they wore their uniforms like the military groomsmen. My brother was also an usher and he wore a tux like the nonmilitary groomsmen but had a black vest instead of the wine colored one that matched the BM dresses. So just slightly different. It really doesnt matter though...go with what you and FI want.

I think your mom is correct. If you want them to look at bit different than the GMs, have them wear a different color vest or cumberbun. For instance, if your GMs are wearing patterned or colored vest, have the ushers wear basic black. If your GMs are wearing black, have them wear a color. If your guys are wearing suits, have them wear a different color tie that matches with your color scheme. I would keep the basic pants and coat the exact same. Anything else will look odd. Example: GM in a tux and usher in a suit. Odd. The formality of the outfit should be the same.

Personally I don't get the point of having ushers match the WP since they aren't technically the WP. I also don't really get the point of ushers since our GM's just showed people to seats before the ceremony if needed, and that's what I've always seen. So personally I think if you are having someone be just an usher you should let them wear whatever they want and just got them a bout. I'm all for not dictating attire unless they are specifically in the WP.

But if it's normal for them to wear the same thing or similar then ditto everything TX said.

Same. We have 1 usher and the GMs will help seat too most likely
