gifts for parents and checks (PIP)

FH and I are rocking the diy gifts! anyways I was wondering do we get gifts for our parents if we paid for our wedding ourselves? (my mom and dad paid for my wedding dress and his mom might pay for RD) I feel bad giving everyone their gifts at the RD and have nothing for my parents and his mom....FH want to get them something personalized...any thoughts?

Here are some of the things we got done

waving flags...

and our guestbook that FH found.... :)

Re: gifts for parents and checks (PIP)

  • We're giving our parents photo album's and a gift card for phot printing. They are couples' gifts so we bought 3. One for my dad and his wife, one for my mom and her hudband, and one for FILs. My dad is paying for most of the wedding so we also got him a really, really nice watch as a special thank you. We aren't giving the gifts at the RD since I think it's weird to have everyone gawk and I feel like my mom may get upset that we got my dad an extra special gift. If you want to do gifts, then do it. Personally, I feel if you do for some of them, then go ahead and do a little something for the others so there's no upset feelings.
  • We're paying for our wedding ourselves but still giving a gift to our parents. The way I see it, its not just about the wedding. Its thanking them for everything they have done to help get us to that point.

My sentiment exactly.  Below is what we are thinking for parent gifts
