Deposits

Hey girls! I havent been on in sooo long I hope all of your plans are going well! So, I changed the venue for my reception, Have the priest I want to marry us, and picked out the photographer I want. They are all free the day of my wedding now, but the question is..is it too early to put deposits down? Have any of you yet? Do you feel comfortable about it? Let me know..thanks girls

Re: Deposits

• I am ahead of scheduale. I wanted to get it done because with memorial day weekend I knew they would book fast plus places or photographers I wanted to possible use were already since November or earlier booked! I have my ceremony (church), venue/cater, photographer and dj all booked. My dad was alittle unsure since he thinks it is too early (he is paying for some of it), but realizes maybe it is needed sooner rather then later. We got a great deal on places and things and didn't wanna lose them. It might seem early but getting it done sooner is another check off the list if you can afford it.

• Never to early to have things secured. My fear would be if we didn't put our deposits down we would lose the availability of those things on the date we needed.

Plus it's a good feeling to be able to check them off.

• I wouldn't hesitate to put down deposits. Vendors can book quicker than you think.

I've put the required deposits down for all of my vendors, had to do it to solidify my date.

• Yep, we gave a deposit for our venue/caterer, photographer, & DJ as we booked them. We have a 2nd deposit due for our venue/caterer in May.

• I don't think it's too early! We have deposits down for the following items:
Venue (ceremony&reception)
Photog
Ceremony musicians
DJ
Flowers
About to be putting down deposit on stationery items

And I think that's it. I've also purchased a lot already (dress, shoes, earrings, BM dresses ordered).

It's never too early to start! Especially since we're ALMOST to our one-year mark! =)
• I definitely don't think it's too early... If I could put more deposits down right now I would.

So far we have:
-Venue (Ceremony, Cocktial hour, Reception, Catering, Open Bar, Cake...etc)
-Photographer
-Videographer

• As soon as we decided on the venue we booked and made deposit. If you know what you want go for it. I know it feels early but things are booking a photographer I was interested in is already booked :/ so our search is still on ... Some people say we started early but I feel like we are just on time so to speak. My point is if you want that place, & you can financially make the deposit then what's holding you back?
• I wanted my deposits done ASAP because I wanted my date secured. It's never too early!

• My theory is that when I find someone I like, I'll put down a deposit just so that I don't have to think about it again!

• We've secured our venue for the reception, caterer and photographer already, with may being the first month into summer in Wisconsin everyone seems to be booking already...didn't want to loose out. Next on the list is dj

• I also think once a deposits made you aren't constantly looking at other venues or photographers and changing your mind!

[QUOTE]you may even save money. we booked our venue august 2011 and the minimum went up for a saturday in may over $4,000 in october 2011. we are luckily locked into our price with our contract, but that's alot of money... even with our florist and photographer, their prices have gone up too since signing our contract, but we are locked in :)

I second this. Between our photographer, DJ, and venue, we've saved several thousands of dollars by booking early.

• I don't think its too early for deposits. We've put deposits on :

Church
Venue
DJ
Party Bus
....and meeting with the photographer next weekend.

It was important for us to do it early due to our wedding time is during prom time. If you're going to have limo/bus...secure it early!
