How much cake did you order?

Did you order enough cake for the exact number of guest? Did you have just enough cake or had some leftover?

Our brides cake is 125 servings and grooms cake is 90.  I'm thoroughly convinced that is way too much cake, but my mom feels otherwise.   She is the one that gets to deal with the leftovers, so she wins.

...for ~120 guests.  Sorry, that would help.

I let my baker tell me how big of a cake I needed.   Since I didn't have a groom's cake, our cake was a little bigger.

We only had around 110 guests (instead of 140 like we thought) and we had an entire tier of the cake uncut and waiting for us in our room.  Everyone got 2 pieces (one tres leches, one chocolate) as it was!  We should have adjusted our size but we had already paid for the cake so we just left it alone.  I think we contracted for it to serve 180.  It was way too big.

We are having about 40-45 guest and our bridal cake serves about 50 and the grooms cake about 20-25 servings.

Both of our cakes are so yummy I wouldn't mind having some left over and eating it the next day :)

My baker suggested the "70/30" rule. The bride's cake should feed 70% of the guests and the groom's cake 30%. We did much less because we had a dessert buffet, but both cakes were completely gone at the end.

Too much! But that was because a lot of people that said they were coming didn't.

We planned on about 140 and brides cake served 88 and the grooms cake probaly 40-50(it was homemade). We had half the grooms cake left over(plus cupcakes) and a tier and a half of the brides cake. Guess no one wanted cake at our wedding.

We also had a candy buffet of M&M's.

I think we gave the cake place a count of 125 and we ended up with 110 or 115.  But we tacked on a 50 serving groom's cake, and I'd wager we had roughly 50 servings leftover (the whole top tier of the cake and some extra).

I'm glad we had some leftover - we packaged some up to take to the hotel and eat on our outbound flight.  We also saved the top tier and brought it to DH's grandparents for Christmas since they couldn't come to the wedding.  Although they didn't take much of it, so we still have most of that top tier in his parents' freezer.
