Get my Period for the Big Day?!

Got my period exactly 28 days before the wedding!!  Has anyone dealt with this?  How do you change a tampon in a wedding dress?  Not only am I pissed that my wedding night is most likely ruined (we've been waiting!) but my honeymoon as well, AND cramps are so bad I'm incapacitated for half the day.  I can't afford this on the busiest day of my life!  I'm begging my doctor right now to figure something out for me!!!!

  • Are you on BC? You can skip your period very easily if you are on it just by skipping the sugar pills and going straight to the next pack of pills
  • I was going to suggest the same thing about the pill.  I'm on it and scheduled to get mine this week, but I don't want it for the wedding or my HM so I'm just going to start my new pack this week.  After the HM I'm going to try to go off it completely, though Wink

  • By sitting backwards on the toilet (facing the tank).  Like PP said, if you are already on BC that is an option.  If not, you might be SOL.....sorry!  Such a bummer, hope your OB has some tricks up her sleeve.

  • Nope, not on BC.  I know, that would be super easy- I am on progesterone cream though, kinda like the dose of hormones from BC, but it doesn't promise any sort of contraception.  I usually have like a 45ish day cycle, but this cream is supposed to regulate me on a 28 day cycle.  I'm hoping he lets me skip it all month and hoping my body goes back to a 45 day cycle.  Or else I'm SCREWED.

    <div>
    </div><div>this exactly. I hope for the sake of what you want that you are on it (or that you start it this month) and can just skip the blank pills at the end of the month. It's fine to do (that's how they have the birth control where you only get your period 4 times a year).</div><div>

  • just be careful...you don't want your hormones all out of wack for the wedding/honeymoon -- could make things worse (overly emotional the day of, etc.). Although I totally understand where you're coming from. :) Since your not on the pill I hope you OB can help some how! :)

  • Would you be opposed of a month on a progesterone only pill? I'd probably talk to my GYN about that if I was in your shoes... you could go back to what you're doing after the month is over, but that would give you peace of mind that you won't be on your period for your wedding/HM.

  • Doesn't stuff like that need AT LEAST one month to start working the way it's supposed to?  I don't have time for a learning curve!

  • I would talk it over with your doctor... I am sorry :(

  • even with progesterone cream, you might not end up with a 28 day cycle. my natural cycle has been 32 days forever and stress can make it longer (you might stress yourself into a long cycle over this). I've been doing B6 supplements to make my cycle overall shorter but longer luteal phase (trying for a baby right after wedding) and so far it's working. I'm kind of facing a similar situation but I'm hoping for a short cycle this month so I will be over the yuck by wedding day.

    I would definitely talk to your gyn to see if they have any suggestions. I mentioned it to FI and he shrugged and said, "well, that would suck but not be the end of the world..." (of course, we aren't waiting so we don't have that big expectation on wedding night)

    good luck!

    <div>I would talk to your dr about it. It may not take that long if you've been doing a progesterone based cream for a month. Definitely talk to your dr.</div>
