Victorian Wedding Questions

Hi, I'm new here and my wedding is September 25, 2010. My theme is Victorian. Do you guys have any inexpensive decorating ideas or any cools websites or etsy sellers that I should check out. I would love to see pics of your weddings for ideas. I would really appreciate any help I can get.

Even though my theme isn't Victorian, I am doing lace doilys underneath each centerpiece instead of a mirror or something. I'm not doing expensive linens or anything, just plain table clothes so I figured the doilys would be a good way to dress it up and they are going to save me some money. I'm also going to use lace table runners on the altar table and the gift table.

My theme is victorian and Im going all out!!! lol. Ill give you a link to my save the dates and table number cards......The Table number cards may not be your style, but I just love them. Ill also give you some links to a stamp Im using for all envelopes and possibly favor boxes. Hope this helps!!!

I am in love with all things Victorian. Have you ever read the magazine called "Victoria"? www.victoriamag.com/ It's a great magazine to have on hand to browse through along with bridal magazines. Totally worth the money and they have it right at Walmart. You should definitley check it out. Also "Romantic Homes" magazine is great for inspiration. Here's a list of things that I think of when I think of the Victorian era.

Flowers, flowers, and more flowers - They don't even have to be ordered, wildflowers can be just as elegant. Mixing ordered with wildflowers is a great way to do it too. The flowers you use for your Victorian wedding are supposed to have a special meaning according to the "meaning" the flower has.

Herbs - mixing herbs in with your bouquet according the "meaning" that the herb represents

Tussie-mussies - A gorgeous way to hold your bouquet. Check them out!

Parasols and fans - A must have for a woman's Victorian ensemble

Veil - Especially a cathedral length veil

Doilies, hankies, and beautiful linens - will definitely set a Victorian theme feeling

Lace - Especially in Ivory, white, light pink, blue, and lavender.

Serving platters - silver platters and glass bowls of all sorts and sizes are a great way to display food at your reception. They are really beautiful and elegant. Another thing that would look great would be to adorn the tables that the food and cake are on with flowers and herbs. Making swags of them and hanging them along the edge of these tables would be beautiful.

Horse drawn carriage - Well, of course!

Great places to hold a Victorain themed wedding would be a Victorian home or mansion, beautful old church, or in a garden.

Gentleman's ensmeble would inculde a top hat, suit with coat tails, and a walking stick.

These are things that I thought of off the top of my head.

Go to antique shops and get some bric-a-brac. Their cheep - $5 or $10 each, and you can have something on each table to give it a really nice feel. After the wedding you can give then out as gifts or decorate your place with them.

Such places and great places for china sets to - really rare and really beautiful patterns.
