Airplane traveling tips!

I'm getting married in Tel Aviv, Israel on June 27. I'm leaving on June 20th. I've been there many times but never for a wedding, much less my own! I've started collecting travel toiletries already and have thrown them all in a room that I have delegated as "The packing room".

Will the airline allow me to hang my dress in the closet where the first class passengers get to keep their suits? Should I call ahead and ask? I know it would count as carry on.

I'm worried about getting bloated from eating the airplane food. Any suggestions? It should go away after a few days.

Re: Airplane traveling tips!

  • If you are worried about eatting airplane food I suggest just packing your own.  Like nuts, fruits, a sandwich, that way you don't have to worry about as much salt. I would also try to drink lots of water on the flight.
  • I had read that you may be able to hang your dress in the clset, however all 3 flights to my wedding the closets were already full by the time I got on so I had to put it in the overhead compartment so I wouldn't plan on being able to put it in the closet unless you are riding 1st class and are the first one to board the plane

Did your dress get wrinkled when you had to put it overhead?
  • I was able to hang mine on all 3 flights, but it still got wrinkled. You'll want to either bring a travel steamer with you or have your hotel steam it for you when you get there. I also was able to board early in order to make sure I was able to hang my dress. I just went up and asked.
  • Mine didn't get wrinkly and mine even fell off the hanger at one point, it really wasn't a big deal! I had a steamer from the hotel though just in case, but I didn't need it.
