I was wondering if I could get some feed back on my idea for my BM gifts.I was at shoppers yesterday they had QUO makeup pallets on sale from 36 down to 10 dollars. Which got me thinking. I'm not bringing in a make-up artist for the wedding and I was thinking maybe it would be nice to buy the girls some nice make-up that they can use for the wedding. I'm thinking eye shadows and stuff like that.I googled some things and found:http://www.saksfifthavenue.com/main/Prod...ID=jIxqOrahttp://www.saksfifthavenue.com/main/Prod...ID=jIxqOsthttp://www.saksfifthavenue.com/main/Prod...D=jIxqOsP.Originally I was thinking:Clutches (Were using these in place of bouquets so I'm buying them)Earringsand a GC for a Mani/Pedi for the night before the wedding.Well the earrings came in last night and they look...... Cheap. I didn't pay alot for them, and I had ordered some for myself this summer and I love them, wear them all the time. Well I thought I was getting the same ones when I ordered them for the girls, and they are not the same and they look cheap. I might still give them to them but I dont want it to be a main part of the gift. so now I'm thinkingClutchesMakeUp KitNailpolish(Ear rings)
Would you be happy recieving this as BM gift? I have set a spending limit of $80 each for Attendants Gifts.
Re: BM Gifts
Did all of my friends break etiquette or was this the thing to do in the 90's?
[QUOTE]We're only having one attendant on each side so it will be easier for us to pick a gift for our best friend. But this post got me thinking.... I can't recall ever receiving a gift from the bride & groom for being a bridesmaid that wasn't a required thing to be in the wedding. One paid for my shoes (which at that time it was dyed shoes from Payless). One paid for my jewelry I was required to wear. And the third paid for my hair to be done on the day of the wedding. Did all of my friends break etiquette or was this the thing to do in the 90's?

<div>I agree, I've always heard of people buying jewelery for their girls to wear at the wedding. A wedding FI was in this summer. All the girls got pearls. The bride made it a point to tell them they didn't have to wear them. I know one of the girls had bought her own set she wanted to wear, so she wore her own, and only one of the girls did wear the pearls. But I agree, every bride I know has given something that can be used the day of.</div><div>
</div><div>All the girls are excited about the clutches instead of bouquets. And yes, I am paying for them. But I think everyone is excited about using them.</div><div>
</div><div>As for the make-up, would I really care if they didn't wear it on the wedding day? HECK NO!</div><div>In no way is it my place to tell them how to wear their makeup, or do their hair for that matter. They are all gorgeous girls and I love them the way they are. If they want to use it for the wedding, thats great, if they don't I wouldn't be offended.</div>
I am paying for airbrush makeup, getting the girls a coach wristlet with a GC for mani/pedi and then a "shop like it is their bday" gift, too. Prob more along the way...I am so bad when it comes to girls...I am an over buyer for sure lol

LOL! I've lucked out with some pretty fantastic girls...two sister in laws, a cousin and 3 of my very best friends. I also like to spoil...it is a problem lol. Like Christmas for example, we got my dad a flat screen one year and I didn't want him to just have one present to open while we all had tons even though it was super expensive so at the last minute I went out and bought a bunch of little stuff. Mother of future spoiled chilrden - I can see it already! <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-wink.gif" border="0" alt="Wink" title="Wink" />

This is pretty much what I'm doing - I can't stay away from Coach and bought their wristlets on a whim -and for a hella deal- a few months ago and packed them away somewhere...I'm sure I'll be able to find them before the wedding ;). I'm also treating them (and myself!) to a morning at a swanky spa in our neck of the woods before we hit the road to the beach. My wine lover MOH is also getting an awesome wine bottle opener set in her favorite color, and I have to figure out what to get my other BM.
I also go overboard, all the time - I am a proud self-proclaimed serial shopper!

I like the second one
To be honest I am picky about my makeup and have allergies so I would not want this.
I do direct sales (message me if you would like more info! hehe) and get bags with names so I am gonna get my girls bags with there name and some other goodies, prob flip flops and I love the cups with straws...
