RUSSELL BRIDAL'S

This weekend I will  be going to Russell's to try on wedding dress. So far everything has been great. Over the phone they have been very pleasant and knowledgeable. I have heard different reviews here so I'm getting a little concerned. If you shopped at Russell's can you please tell me your experience and who you worked with? Also I'm a size 12 is think going to be a problem, because I've read they are limited with sizes.
TIA

I had a great experience there. They are reasonbably priced and had a pretty big selection conpared to the other places I went. Most of their sample sizes are 14 or 16, so depending on the designer you should be fine. I tended to gravitate toward Maggie Sottero and Casablanca and that was my experience with those designers. I think you will be fine. I also got my BM dresses from them. My BMs got 10% off and all the alterations were free because I got my dress from them and we also got tuxes from them. I had no problems with alterations or my bustle. They were great to work with IMO.

I bought my dress, my bridesmaid dresses and my flower girl dresses at Russell's (and I think my Mom is getting her gown there as well). When I bought my gown I worked with Sue, and she was WONDERFUL. She knows exactly what she is doing and talking about. The last time I was there we worked with a younger brown haired girl (not sure what her name was)...I prefered Sue over her, but I can't say I had a bad experience with her...she was just more on the quiet side (although I was with a large group and we were quite loud haha). I would reccommend Russell's to everyone I know. And they do have a lot of various sample sizes - you shouldn't have a problem with a 12. In fact, the sample of my dress was a 12.

I bought my gown through them.  I actually had them order a Pronovias gown I wanted that I saw in NYC. They knocked off a ton of money and my alterations were free.  All my bridesmaids dresses and flowergirl dresses were from there too.  They were great all around.  Unfortunately the studio needs a major makeover and its not in the nicest of areas, but if you can overlook that you will be getting a good deal and great treatment.  Also, watch if you have any pregnant bridesmaids, we my sister in law is a size 2 and they ordered her an 18, it was way too much even with the belly.  Highly recommend them!

I bought my dress there and Sue was my consultant. I LOVE HER! She was awesome to work with and made me feel so comfortable. I am a size 10 and I was worried about the sample sizes before I got there but once i started trying on dresses I didn't have a problem getting into them. I agree with PP about the studio needing a makeover but the area isn't bad at all ( although i did grow up around the area so I might just be used to it), I got my veil and head piece there as well, a couple of months after I bought it all I was second guessing my head piece choice. I was so stressed about it, I called and the girl who answered was very rude and told me that I couldn't change it, I was upset and told her to please have Sue call me. Sue called the next day and assured me that it wasn't a problem to change it, she spoke to the owner and said it was ok because my wedding is in 2012. I absolutely love Sue and I know I will be getting my BM dresses there and flower girl dress. I also getting a discount on my dress if I buy my BM dresses there. HTH

I bought my gown, veil, and BM dresses there.  I had been to four other stores before going to Russell's and had very negative experiences at each (either I felt rushed, ignored, or the salespeople just didn't understand what I was looking for).

When looking for my dress I worked with Erica who was AMAZING and since then I've worked with both Erica and another woman (can't remember her name, but she has also been wonderful).  Everytime I call, even if I speak to someone I've never spoken to before, they remember me or my dresses right away (I chose an unusual color for BM gowns) and regardless of who I speak to on the phone I'm always treated very well.

Regarding sizes, I don't think you should have a problem.  I'm a size 2-4 and every dress they had available for me to try on was a 10-16. Maybe I just happened to choose all dresses that they only had in larger sample sizes, but I imagine that they must have a good selection of the size you'll need.

I got my flower girl dress there.  I didn't pay close enough attention to what the girl wrote down and the dress came in the wrong color.  It was supposed to be white with wine accents and we got all white.  They ordered extra fabric but charged us for the fixes.  So make sure to check your order carefully before you leave.

I ordered my dress at Russell's even though I saw it elsewhere, because I loved the way Russell's treated me.  I worked with Veronika, and she was great.

  • Probably too late for you and I hope you had a better experience than i did, but here is my review for Russell's

am getting married in about a week and used Russell's for the bridesmaids dresses. I can't even begin to tell you how much stress they've caused me and how much inconvenience they've put my girls through. They get 2 stars because they have a good selection that's about all that's good. We picked out and ordered dressed in March and were told they'd be in in June. They did not arrive until the last week of July. Any time I called to ask for an update about their arrival time they were extremely rude gave me an attitude and told me they'd be in next week which was never true until the last time I called. Being so delayed my girls only had 2 weeks to get in for their first fittings, and most of them have now had to go back 3-4 times each because every time there is something wrong. All of the zippers on the dresses looks horrendous after the first fittings and they tried to tell most of them oh well we can't do anything about it. My wedding is 1 week away and 3 of my girls are still going on their 3rd or 4th fittings this week to make sure they didn't screw anything else up.

Some background on me. I'm extremely easygoing and not at all picky. I'm also always optimistic so for me to be writing this review you know they really upset me. Worst part of my whole experience was how rude they were to me when I would call to check in on things. There are many places to get bridesmaid dresses, please save yourself the added stress and  skip Russell's I sure wish I did!
