  It's fine. In fact, I've heard ivory shirts wind up being the ones that look dingy. My dress was ivory and my husband's shirt was white. It looked fine.

  Ditto PP. My H wore a dinner jacket look for the wedding - black pants, white shirt, ivory jacket, black bowtie (you know, the James Bond look?) and it looked great with my ivory dress. Even when he took his jaket off and it was just the white shirt it looked fine.

  Same here... I had an ivory dress, my partner had a white shirt.  You couldn't tell.
