Selecting a wedding photographer

Hi Girls,

Just doing a quick poll here and hoping you can all participate!

We have our photographer narrowed down but have not yet decided...

    I voted the Knot (message boards) but basically I had a list of 10 photographers (at least) that I was interested in, based on people's recs.  Ultimately, the interviews did it for me- more than any other vendor.  I could have picked a DJ, florist, etc. after meeting with one person.  The photographer, on the otherhand, was a huge personality thing for me.  Even though some photographers on here came highly recommended, I might not have clicked with them.  But when I met with like the 7th one, I knew- haha.  The Knot was a great starting point for me.

    Like Vanessa I had a wicked long list of photographers I kept in my bookmarks- from TK, google searches, blogs, etc. We actually found our photographers because they popped up on the advertisement on the side of my facebook page. I clicked on it... and instantly fell in love. When we met them I knew it was a perfect match... and after our engagement session, well now I'm just obsessed with them hahaha My biggest advice is go with your gut.

    Ours is a friend of DH's sister.  After being in two weddings she photograhed (two and three years ago now), I knew I really wanted her and no one else! Fortunately, DH felt the same way from the beginning, so photography became our major splurge.  She's expensive but damn good at what she does. No regrets.

    If I could of chose 2 I would of added Bridal Shows to the other but I put down TK because I wouldn't of had the good & bad recs for all of my vendors actually! It is nice to know who others have used & their experience but I also got of alot of great information from Bridal shows that I have been to!

    I actually found our photographer by going through pictures on my florist's website (which obviously were credited to them) - I saw how many amazing shots they did and I love my florist (Jane - Just For You, who doesn't?) so I knew they had to be good.  I took a look at their website and we met with them and their photography was amazing and they were awesome to meet with, so we knew we had to have them, no matter the cost :)

    I found mine through theknot - specifically the CT message boards!  Loved the reviews and then stalked their blog!

    I actually found my photographer through a recommendation by someone on this message board- but didn't vote because I had a giant GIANT list of photos like it seems other girls had as well. Like I'm talking huge- I gathered recommendations from friends, family, the knot, bridal shows, google searches, photography blogs- you name it, I probably went on it. It was sooooo hard, and one of the longest processes for us to pick from. In the end, I met with 5 of them (after emailing or talking to about 10-15 of them), and then we finally chose. I was so excited when it was over with! Good luck!

    I narrowed it down to 3 and loved following their blogs and facebook pages to keep a constant eye on their work. Of course Knot recommendations and advice also really helped. What really narrowed it down for me though were my meetings. I really liked one photographer through email etc. but when I met her she kind of rubbed me the wrong way. And I loved meeting with the photographer that I am woring with. Although I usually hate having to meet people in person, I'd rather do it over email, it really did make a difference!!
