One of my hobbies is to crochet, and I've discovered I really like to crochet baby things because, well, they are smaller and the yarn is softer (and fun colors!). Soon I am going to fill my house with baby stuff and either won't need it, or will just have too much of it. I also like making things like little hats and really, I don't want to have 70 hats for a future kid.
A lot of people in my area crochet/knit baby things and then donate them to local premie wards, hospitals, etc. so I was thinking of going that route.
The thing that concerns me though is I do have a cat and a dog, and while the blankets won't be furry or anything they will have been exposed to cat/dog fur (like now, when Demon decided she's going to lay on my lap on top of the current blanket project). Do you think the places will still accept them even though they have been exposed to animals, even minimally, or should I calm down on the volume of projects?
Re: A random question regarding cat/dogs and babies
Call and ask the places you want to dontate to first to see what they require, though. Not all places have their own laundry and if they aren't able to wash items, they won't take them or will throw them away once used.
2. My grandmother use to make blankets and donate them to the NICU ward. She had a dog and just washed everything carefully in Dreft before donating.
3. I'll take an extra set off your hands. They can go in my baby box hat H doesn't totally know about.
4. Have you considered selling them on Etsy? You could always donate the proceeds if you wanted.

I think that's so cool you can crochet! I knit and a few years ago before I got my post-college job, I knitted all my sisters scarves for Christmas. They still use them
You could always sell them to local boutiques! My sister pays good money for homeade stuff like that.
Plus, they make great gifts.

It's funny though, because I cannot knit to save my life and love to crochet.

[QUOTE]I've thought about Etsy Anna, but I'm worried (in an AW way) that if they get too popular it won't be fun anymore. I've sold a couple of my purse creations to friends though. I have way too many of those too. It's funny though, because I cannot knit to save my life and love to crochet.

I totally get that. It's fun until it becomes a "job".
Knitting came easily for me but i just can't wrap my mind around crochet. i tried, bought books, and ended up with a knotted looking mess.

Do not mess in the affairs of dinosaurs because you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.
I love you Missy. Even though you are not smart enough to take online quizzes to find out really important information. ~cew

That's me with knitting! I started doing both at 18 and whenever I knit it's awkward and comes out just jumbled and going "wtf am I doing"? Crochet was instantly "oh look at this cool thing!"

Taryn looks good in warm colors; yellows, oranges, etc.
In case you get too bored.
