Another Bridal Store question

Post below got me thinking!

I have been looking online to find out prices to set a reasonable budget, and a lot of stores do not list any price or price range on their site, same with designers. If they do, they list out from $ to $$$$$. If my budget is under a grand including alterations, am I stuck going to DB? Anyone know any good stores for those budgets? I most likely won't get alterations at the store unless its a good deal.

TIA!

I got my dress from I Do Too in Plymoth. It's a Maggie Sottero and I ended up talking them down to $750. I think there are definitely other places besides DB that have dresses under 1K.

My dress is well under $1k and I am getting it from Dior. They have a wide range of prices. I was a little worried that they were going to all be at the high end of my budget but they had a ton of really reasonably priced dresses, and great designers (Maggie Sottero, Pronovias, Mori Lee, etc.)

I also got mine for $700...its an Allure gown.  I got it from Mimi's in Ann Arbor.  Where ever you go just ask about the price ranges up front.  Or, you could even call ahead of time and that will help you decide if its worth going. I know a lot of places arrange the store by price, so that helps so you don't end up trying on dresses out of your budget.

I bought my dress from Arena and it was less than 1k with bustle and alterations included. (also a Maggie!)

TOTALLY can be done. Look at the simpler Maggies, Wtoo (I think, the website has prices, though), Mori Lee (again, the simpler dresses, they were as low as $500!) and Alfred Angelo- there are tons for less than 1k! GL!

I would suggest calling ahead before you visit the store. Ask them what their price points are. I fell in love with my dress and of course it was the most expensive one and way out of my budget (by almost 1K). If you are eyeing a certain designer, like Maggie Sottero, check for trunk shows. I ordered my dress from a trunk show and got 10% off.

So no, you aren't limited to only DB. Alot of stores have sample sales and trunk shows. Just call them up and get the scoop!

No you not stuck going to DB. I got my dress at Victorias Bridal. It was under a grand and it included free alterations and 20% off the girls dresses

Most stores have a pretty wide range of prices, but I would confirm when you call to make your appointments.  Also, when you get there, give them your price range up front, and don't try on any that are out of it.  I tried on one that was a couple hundred out of my price range, and of course it was the one I loved.  I ended up talking them down a couple hundred in price, but it was still at the top of my price range.  I LOVE my dress, but just wish I had loved one that was a little less $$.

Ditto everyone else. I got mine at Moni's & it was Allure. Once I knew which one I wanted I called all the Allure carriers in Metro Detroit to find the best price. I shopped at Dior, I Do Too, Moni's, Diane's Dream Brides, Bella... lots of places had plenty in the under $1k range.

There are plenty of options. When you go in simply say your working with a budget of $1k or whatever and they will bring you dresses that fit into that range.

It's so funny to me when I watch "Say Yes to the Dress" and they totally don't listen to the bride and bring one that's like $5k more. Which of course the bride loves, and begs her family to mortgage their homes to get her. Then again, you don't go to Kleinfeld's with a Bud Light budget!

There are actually quite a few Maggie Sottero and Sottero & Midgley's out there under $1,000. I wanted a Maggie gown, but ended up with Essense of Australia somehow. :)

I'd look at the Maggie Sottero store locator on her website and call around to a few to see if they have a good selection of them.

The thing I totally overlooked, is the alteration cost. Is it included? Are you going to spend another $500 or something having it altered? Have you budgeted separately for it?

My dress is a Casablanca and it was $700 from Eva's in Garden City.  I wanted to stay under $1000 as well, and I found lots of dresses at Arena, David's, and Eva's that I liked that fit that budget.  Just be up front about your budget and remember that you can always try to negotiate a bit, too.

I budgeted the grand to include the alterations. I realize I might go over a bit but hoping not to. I have lots of DIY help and I am not including my shoes, undergarments, or jewelry in my budget for the wedding at all, I will wear all of them again most likely, and my aunt might make all of the jewelry for me and my girls as my gift. That is her usual gift to family weddings ( She does beautiful work  in beads, with looms, just about anything artsy).

You can also check out Group USA in Great Lakes Crossing Mall. They have some really beautiful dresses there at your price point.
