Thank You Card Question

So, once again my ignorance shows -

If we receive a joint gift from say the cousins - I have to send each household a seperate thank you - correct?

Do I also have to send the adults of the same household (Mom, Son-in-Law & Daughter)  seperate thank yous for a joint gift?

1 gift from 2 households - 2 separate thank you cards
1 gift from 1 household - 1 thank you card, with all the names written on the inside, and then a "Thank you all for the lovely xxxxx"

Thank you that is what I did... I'm almost completely done with thank you cards - YAY!!!

I have 4 left and then some vendor thank yous but those cannot go out until after we get out professional pictures.

What's the difference between a thank you card and a personal note? I'm assuming nobody sends just the card and the signature, you still write all the parts: thank you for your gift, we will use it for this and that, see you soon.

    Right?

The outside of the card matched our invitations an the inside was blank.  I did thank those who attended for doing so, and for their gift and so on. So each note was personal, and that is why I still have 4 left to do because I don't want them to be form letters - but we have cousins that pulled together for a gift and well... it will be difficult to not make them all sound the same.
