when to send out invitations for a destination wedding

I need a little help! We are getting married June 29, 2013 in New Orleans and we are sending our our save the dates next week (we just have to get our wedding room block down pat before so) However, I have a question. Is there any different time line for sending out your actually wedding invitations for a destination wedding?? Should we do it sooner than normal???

    The normal timeframe still applies, 6 to 8 weeks before your date. Save the dates will already have served the purpose of letting your guests know when the wedding will be and give ample time to make travel reservations.

    I'm also an OOT bride and our wedding is March 9. We sent save the dates months ago with the room block info included, and a lot of our guests have already booked rooms before receiving the invitation. Our invites are going out tomorrow. So, I think you're fine with 6-8 weeks prior to since you are doing save the dates now.
