How to get FI on board with DOC?

So he thinks that we don't need one and I told him why its best that we have one. He thinks that nothing is going to go wrong and if it does we can handle it ourselves. I told him that is the last thing that I want to worry/stress about the day we get married is all of the little things that could happen. I am thinking I may just do this vendor on my own... Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!!

Re: How to get FI on board with DOC?

  • Just let him know that even tho you plan to have everything run smoothly that at any given moment something can go wrong like you might have forgotten something i hope u dont but she would have a check list to make sure things run smoothly and it would give you a PIECE OF MIND . She could call vendors if she sees they're not on time you dont want to have to worry about that. You should be relaxing and getting papmered as well as him. Just reassure him of the importance to you of why youwant a DOC. Im def having one !
  • I think you summed it up with what you were saying. You really need someone to make sure everything runs smoothly, because on the day you should just be able to enjoy yourself.

I don't know what I would do without my coordinator!! I paid for her myself from the very beginning (about a month after our engagement), probably the best money I have spent. I have her full planning services, but she also does DOC. She's told me a couple stories of what went wrong, for example at a wedding a few weeks ago the dj just never showed up and she was able to get someone else to come last minute.

Is it the cost he has the problem with? How much is it?

This gives me hope. I haven't discussed hiring a DOC yet with FI but have a free consultation with one next Wednesday. If your cost is $750 for the month, chances are the day-of fee would likely be less.

  • A lot of the planners here only do a month of coordinating instead of just the day of. At of all the DOC I have met with they are the ones that were in my price range...

Month of sounds a lot better than day of, gives them time to fully understand what you want. I think it's worth it. I paid $1975 for my coordinator to work with me from the beginning.
