August 2012 Weddings

RSVP deadline in 6 days, haven't heard from 70 people?

I invited 130 total and only heard back from 60 of them. With 70 people MIA, I'm getting a little worried. I really don't feel like making 40+ phone calls asking people to RSVP.
The other thing is, I'm doing the online RSVP via e-mail or the webiste RSVP page.
I've heard that the website is not reliable but I also haven't encounter anyone that was having trouble getting the RSVP through to me.

  • I would give it three more days, than get a couple of friends together, divide the list, and start calling. Just remind them that you would like to  finalize everything with your vendors and need an answer. Some people are so busy these days, that they procrastinate. However, that does not mean that they love you and your FI any less.

  • Also, a lot of people don't put the RSVP's in the mail until the due date, so you might continue getting some for several days thereafter.
  • I'm with ya. Our RSVP date is June 30th, and we're waiting for 75 cards still!
  • I feel ya.  We had our first RSVP date, and we were still missing from 80 people.  It took FOR EVER to get those people to respond, but we finally have...(we are now missing 28 people from the "B" list and the RSVP date is July 1.  Hopefully everything will work out!

  • My rsvp date is July 1st as well and I've only heard from 30 people and I invited about 230!  So I'm hoping I get tons of rsvps in the mail this week! haha  I've also heard many people mail them out the day they're due.

  • We  did RSVP by August3rd that's 3 weeks before the big day. So I hope that is plenty of time. But if I don't get them I will be calling. My fiance and in laws feel it's rude but I need to know.
  • Do you have anyone who recently got married and invited a lot of the same guests?  My cousin on my mom's side got married last year, and I asked his wife how my mom's family was about RSVPing.  She said they all RSVPed, but most sent them in the last 2 or 3 days before the deadline.  And to date, this particular couple are the only ones who have RSVPed so far!

  • I'm embarrassed to admit it, but a few weeks ago we were the guilty party.  We received an invitation with the RSVP due 5 weeks before the wedding.  It was online only RSVPing and we weren't sure if we could make it so we waited.  The date came and went, with me thinking we had a week or so more.  It was for FI's cousin, so I was kind of waiting for him to make the decision and the lack of a response card made it a bit easier to forget.  Long story short, people forget or assume there's still time.  If you can wait a week or so after the deadline, I"m sure you'll have a few more trickle in and reduce the number of phone calls you'll need to make!  Good luck and apologies on behalf of all late RSVPers!
  • We are still waiting on 80 people, deadline is July 1st. Sucks!
