Westin Kierland Pricing??

Hi All -
We met with the catering manager at Westin Kierland today to discuss the wedding. We love the venue, etc, but the pricing is high and the room rate they got for us is way too high in my opinion. The majority of our guests will be from out of town, so this is important.

As an idea, they gave us $104 per person for the buffet (+almost 30% in taxes and gratuities), then $120 per person for alcohol (+ the same 30%) and a room rate of $199 per night for a min. of 20 rooms . . .

Has anyone had experience there or have any feedback on negotiating pricing or what you were able to get worked out?

I really appreciate any insight!!

Gracias!!

I used to be the Catering Sales Managers at one of Westin Kierland's competitors.  To me, the food prices seems fair for that venue.

My thoughts on the room rate wll depend on what time of year the wedding is.  What month are you getting married?  If you are getting married in season (March, April, May, October, November) I actually think that is a great rate for that resort.  If you are getting married in the summer this is a bit high, I would expect the price for their basic room in the summer to be more like $125-150.

The alcohol charge is what surprises me, that is ridiculously high!!!!!!!!  My liquor at Troon North is costing me $40++ per person for a 5 hour, full open bar.  The resort I worked at charged between $50-$60++ per person for a 5 hour full open bar.  What are you getting for $120++ per person?  They must have other options!  I am assuming this is their most expensive package, but I am sure they have different levels of bar!  There is NO REASON to be paying that much for liquor.
