NWR: Selling anniversary present-- what to do with $?

Last year (late 2009) for our anniversary FI got me a motor scooter. I had said that I wanted a motorcycle so he thought this would be a relatively inexpensive way for me to test it out and see if I liked it and if I was really serious about the idea. Well it turns out, I rarely ever rode it. It can't get above 35 mph and my job is pretty far and needs me to take highways. So I can't drive it to commute and I don't have any short trips that it's practical to use it for since it doesn't have much storage. I love the scooter, and when we do ride it together it's lots of fun, but it just doesn't make sense for me to have. We just spent $300 to have it stored over the winter and I only rode it 6 times last year.

So-- I have a friend who is going to buy it for $750, and she also said I can borrow it and ride it whenever I want. FI is A-OK with me selling it, his only stipulation is that I need to spend the money on something for myself! I just don't know what!

Some bomb wedding jewelry!!  A couple nice purses? Oh man, the things I could do with 750 :)  Upgrade the ring some? What's a total splurge for the wedding that you really want?

I'm SO bad at splurging on myself. I vote for something vacation based (like an experience or something) or being totally lame and putting the money in the bank and saving it for a rainy day when you need a pick me up.

What's the one thing you have been dreaming about having or doing, that's separate from your FI.  Once you have that in mind do eet!  Hahaha for $750 I go buy my self a paddle board or a nice mint condition used surfboard.  Ahhh the things to do.... hope you find something for yourself.

I could stretch $750 quite a bit...cocktail dress, summer/hawaii wardrobe, bachelorette dress, get yourself a massage, facial, manicure/pedicure, new swimsuits, new sandals, I'm sure you'll find a way to enjoy it!!

Well, when I was done getting at least an hourlong massage at the Grand Wailea Spa, I'd put the rest toward creating a memory on the honeymoon.  I can get purses and pretty jewelry anytime, but would want to do something once in a lifetime with the gift money.  Check out Mama's Fishhouse - we ate there then stayed at their inn the first night of our HM and it was absolutely one of the most memorable experiences we had on that trip (and we felt so special to be able to do it).

P.S. The massages at the Grand Wailea are THE BEST and TOTALL WORTH IT.  Do it!

<div>Same! I have a feeling it's just going to sit in savings. I need to buy a new laptop since my MacBook Pro is on the verge of death, but I don't want this money to go towards that. </div><div>
</div><div>The massage at Grand Wailea actually sounds really lovely :) I'll have to set some aside for that!</div>
