Re: 5/8 Accountability!!

  • ugh I was bad this past week. with all the time we have spent with our realtor and my busy schedule I haven't worked out as much as I normally do, which is horrible, since my wedding is in just over 2 months!! I really need to work on fitting more workouts into my schedule, even when i only have 20-30 minutes to spare. Plus, the 167 or so beers that I had on Saturday night didn't do anything to help me out, either. I ate really well yesterday after I jump started my day with some green juice and I am hoping today will be similar!
  • I have had terrible cramps for the past 2-3 days, so been giving myself a free pass on working out. I've tried to be good about my diet, at least. Last night my FI made a delicious veggie pasta with enough to eat 2 more times this week. I'm really excited to not have to cook most of the week. I am really hoping that not having to worry about cooking after work will help me find the time to work out when I get home and get myself back on track.

  • What are you doing to keep yourself on track? Morning workouts to make sure I get at least one workout a day in

What is your favorite workout right now? hiking the mountain.  Yesterday was fantastic with a breeze and actually cool enough where I didn't get a heat headache!

What is your favorite snack? unsweetened applesauce

How did you resist the urge??  Resisting the urge is difficult, but I guess just reminding myself that the wedding is less than 3 months away helps.  And not keeping any junk in the house.

How did you stay motivated??I'll usually watch bridal shows while I work out to keep me motivated (I swear, the last several times I was at the gym, Say Yes to the Dress, the Wedding Planner, or 4 weddings was on).

  • Bmore - I'm so sorry to hear about your cramps. Are they the type that make you curl up in a ball on the couch? If so, ignore the next sentence.

When I have bad cramps, which happens pretty much every month, I find that walking slowly on the treadmill actually helps. Maybe it's the endorphins or something, but it honestly HELPS my cramps when I work out. Not lifting weights or anything, but just light walking or slow elliptical.

I've been awful this whole week. Butterfly - I NEED SOME GREEN JUICE! I've been starting my day with oatmeal and it keeps me full, but then I really want some greens and end up gorging myself on a massive salad. :( It would be so much better for me to reverse it and start with greens in the AM and then do oatmeal or something heavy at lunch.

  • I had green juice for breakfast yesterday (I actually think it was my first time ever doing that, usually if i go to the juice stand for breakfast I get a banana-based smoothie instead of a juice) and that is exactly what it did for me! I would highly recommend it!! I love oatmeal for breakfast too (I had some whole grain oat bran this morning actually) but I think my body likes when I switch up what I eat.

Bmore I totally agree with bridetobe. Although a lot of times I don't FEEL like even moving when I have cramps, a light yoga practice or a really light jog/walk combination end up helping the cramps quite a bit. Once I get moving (getting moving is the hardest part!) the cramps always seem to disappear.

I also used to buy these weird disposable heating pads that you rip off and attach to your belly. I wonder if they still make them. They were weird but always felt really good on my cramps, hahaha. You could always just use a regular heating pad too :)

</div><div>I totally use these every month.  Calcium supplements sometimes help, as do Vitamin E pills the week before it comes.  With that said, I found that my cramps weren't as bad this month (usually I call in sick on day 2 because they leave me immobile and nauseous) and I only skipped 1 day of working out that week!
