XP Invitation to Crash? WDYT?

Ok, so a bit of background knowledge to understand the thinking behind this one lol
I was diagnosed with Cancer a bit ago, and still belong to a support group of other survivors that meet regularily. Our meetings have A LOT of ups and downs, so we really enjoy when we can celebrate something good.

So at one of our meetings we were talking about me getting married and I told my girls that any of them that want to come are definitely invited, I just need addresses for invites. One of the ladies said "Oh, well that ruins my fun, I was going to crash" as a joke... this evolved and now its a huge joke that they are 'crashing' my wedding, and they don't want me to send invites like everyone else because they are crashing (even though I know they are coming, they are giving me numbers by the RSVP date, etc).

As a fun joke I figured, seeing as I am making all my own invites anyway, why not send that group of girls an 'Invitation to Crash'. That way all the info is in one place for them still, but we can also just have fun with the whole 'they are crashing' joke we've had going for the last few months.

What do you girls think? Lame or fun?

First of all, congrats on your recovery! That's a wonderful accomplishment. Secondly, I think that sounds SUPER fun and I would love if I got something like that in the mail

I think its perfect, especially since you are making the invitations yourself!!

I love the idea. I was thinking about my cancer support group (i just joined since my diagnosis in Feb.) would it be okay to invite them to my wedding in Sept. or should I just tell them they are invited....

As for inviting them, it depends how close you are to them. I opted to just mention it at a meeting because I needed addresses and it all went from there to 'crashing' lol

I was diagnosis with ovarian cancer stage 3. I just went through a hysterectomy and started my chemo treatments......

Britt- I think it's adorable. And if they are like me and keep sentimental/memorable things like that, they'll appreciate having an invitation of sorts.

nicknuttnc if you ever want to talk, I'm a Stage 2 Ovarian survivor. I know that when I was going through it talking to someone who actually understood made a HUGE difference!

This is such a bitter sweet thread. great to hear about survivors, and sad to hear about current patients. Hang in there ladies!

As for the crashing, we kinda did that idea... we have a select group of friends who we do not have room/money for for the reception dinner, but at 9pm these people are allowed to come in and say hi, and enjoy the cash bar. We are looking at it as "Hey come on in, don't feel like you need a gift, just say hi and have a drink with us." We are doing this thru FB group invites and we may get FBIL involved in making sure no one brings anyone that shouldnt be there. For your idea, i would send some sort of actual invite so they know you honestly do want them there. Some people say they wanna do an idea but really don't mean it, especially if you have been joking about it. Best just to let them know for sure.
