wow.  I'm super confused by that list.  The entire time I was either thinking "I think that's a great idea" or "what the...?!"  in no particular order.

I don't think it's saying strapless is necessarily bad... but if you're looking for a really beautiful gown that's not strapless it's pretty hard these days. When we went to Kleinfelds, my mom was really set on me covering my shoulders and chest, cause it's unseemly to show those (in her mind), especially during a wedding. And there just wasn't anything that was nice that did that. Luckily, the designer of the dress was in store that day and agreed to make me a shoulder shrug that would seem like it's part of the dress and my mom was appeased.

I think I even read an article where Vera Wang was interviewed and she said she was tired of this whole strapless movement, but nothing else sells so she doesn't really design many gowns with straps or sleeves or whatnot.

I agree with the strapless one actually. I think a lot of strapless dresses are great, but it'd be REALLY nice to have other options that are just as beautiful and don't seem dowdy without having to customize it.

exactly, I don't understand some of those comments.  How can a strapless dress go out of style?  Next she's going to tell me pants aren't in anymore.

I think that's a different issue though, but I agree that it's probably harder to find things that cover your shoulders and it would be nice to have more variety.  I just think it's a funny thing for the author to point out since it's such a basic look.  I would have assumed they would have chosen something like "giant ruffles" or something that's trendy.

Well, she is right that strapless has ruled the gown offerings for at least the last 10 years, but oh well.

The top hat thing, seriously? I do NOT see that as a trend anywhere! It's a specific look for people with a specific, and not "trendy" or "normal" style to rock.

How is the Signature Drink trying to be all Carrie Bradshaw?! That's a stupid observation and complaint.

She's half right on the green wedding stuff...except that as we knotties well know, a LOT of wedding stuff gets reused, the best kind of green. For instance, all my purple glass was from an estate sale and probably saved from eventually being hauled off to recycling which uses more energy.

I acutally disagree that strapless has reigned for 10 years.  I do think they have reigned for 5, but honestly, look at pictures for weddings in the year 2000 and most of them had spaghetti straps.  Go back another 10 years prior and they had the long lacy sleeves.  That's just how things go with anything clothing related, thus why they are called trends.  Wait another few years and it will be shifting to something else.  And yes, I agree - I do wish dresses had more variety for strapless vs. strap.

And yeah, the top hat thing is....I don't even know what.  All I can say it: that's news to me.

Even though I find a couple of these annoying, the whole thing is just one big "you kids get off my lawn" piece. Let people have their fun!

Uhm, David Tutera says you can have a signature drink and I believe him. Also, he occasionally chooses a strapless dress, so I double believe him.
