Duplicate Shower Gifts

Hey everyone!!
So I had my shower yesterday, and I have 6 duplicates of stuff. I am just wondering what to do with it, because I would really like to keep the stuff my Mom and her family got me (it was all off our registry) but I don't want to offend my fiance's family! (they didn't use the registry). How do I handle it? Do I keep the doubles for a just-in-case down the road? His family never gave gift receipts so I don't think I can return them. My Mom's fam did, but like I said, I would rather keep her stuff because it was the stuff I really wanted. I really really don't want to offend anyone, because it was so awesome of them to give a gift.

    If the store you registered at carries the same itmes your in-laws gave you, you can probably return it for cash or store credit there.  If not then look for stores that will accept returns without receipts like Kohl's.  If you received two blenders, there's no need to keep both for down the road.  That's just going to take up spcae in your home.

    It depends on what the items were. Like jagore said, there's no need to keep two blenders or other electronic items like that. If the items are things that you could use down the road when your registry items wear out or break, like towels or glassware, and you have the space, I would just keep them.

    If I were you, I would probably return what I could of the duplicate items, but you also have to consider FI's family. If you think they would find out you returned their gifts and get offended, it might be worth keeping at least some of their gifts, even if you don't use them often.

     if people realize you got duplicates, they shouldn't have a problem whose you return. There is no need to have duplicates of an item so you don't hurt anyone's feelings. How are they going to know which gift you kept vs which gift you took back?

    Why don't people buy off the registry or just give CASH?  Someone on another board said the registry is just a suggestion.  Well, see, this is what suggestions leads to.....the chance of receiving FIVE blenders.  Seriously, either use the registry or just give CASH.  I'd much prefer it myself.
