Is 4 places too many?? Need advice.....

I have already set up a registry at Target (they had the most resonable prices on kitchen electronics, which we have NONE of) and BB&B (This is where our formal dinnerware is), I was also going to set one up at Macy's. However, my fiance just mentioned that he wanted to set up a registry at Home depot for some "guy stuff". I don;t think that this is a bad idea because:

1.) he will get stuff that he needs to do the 'to-do lists' for our new house,

2.) he will feel more included in the registry process (he was not thrilled about looking at plates and stuff but he has been a really good sport about it)

3.) I actually think his groomsmen and my brother would actually prefer to buy him stuff from homedepot

The problem is that I really wanted to register at Macy's as well to get some nice, table  clothes, and bedding, because I can't find anything I like as much at the other stores.

So.....Is it tacky to register at 4 places when we are only inviting about 150 people?  Also if it is tacky should I "unregister" at one of the other places? Only my parents know where I have registered so far and my shower invitations have not gone out yet. Since I registered at target I have heard bad things about their return policy so I am thinking about trying to unregister there........

    I think 4 is ok depending on how many items you have on each registry.  (Especially if you have a wedding website or something to make it easy for people to see their options.)  You just don't want to overwhelm guests too much with places and choices! :)  Maybe you could split the registries between your MOH and mom (for when people ask them) so they're only giving out two places to guests.  Also, you seem to be keeping each registry for a specific type of item which I think helps.

    The only thing to think about... my FI and I set up a BB&B registry and a Macy's registry but haven't put anything on the Macy's registry.  Everything we wanted there we realized was also at BB&B AND cost more money so we decided it was silly.  (Seriously, the exact same items.)  Are you sure the things you want can't also be found at Target or BB&B?

    Also, if the ONLY reason you registered at Target is because of price (and the same items are available at Macy's or BB&B), most guests know to shop around.  For a wedding I went to recently, my FI and I bought 4 sets of something for the price of 3 at the store they were registered.  The only downside was that it wouldn't add it as "fulfilled" on their registry so we made sure to give them the gift receipt just in case. :)

    I am registered at 4: Bloomingdales, Michael C Fina, Williams-Sonoma and Tiffany. Bloomingdales and WS are the primary registeries. There's a handful of things on the Tiffany registry. I opened the Michael C Fina one a few weeks ago, after having the other 3 open for a few months. The only reason I opened it up is because I found my fine china for $100 cheaper a place setting than what it was priced at on Bloomingdales.

    I hate having four but I did it to give my guests a lower price. Of course, after shower invites went out, I found out that the china at Fina is backordered 6-8 weeks and the china goes on sale at Bloomingdales. So annoying. So I put half on Fina and half on Bloomingdales.

    I don't think it's greedy as long as you are only registering for a couple of things at some of the places. I have seen people register at like 5 places and register for 3 champagne buckets at each place. That seems poorly thought out and gift grubby.
