No thank you card?

My friend got married at the end of July I have not received a thank you card for the gift we gave her. Should I ask her about it or not?

Re: No thank you card?

  • The end of July was just a couple of weeks ago, She probably just got back from her HM and adjusting into the married life, I'm sure you will get one . Evern if you dont,  I dont think I would ever ask anyone for a Thank You card.
  • Definitely do not ask about it.  While it is appropriate for her to send one, I don't think it is appropriate to ask for a thank you.  To me, whenever someone fishes for a "thank you" I always feel like they did something for me/got me something for the purpose of being acknowledged, not because they genuinely wanted to do something for me/give me something.  I think etiquette gives you 4-6 months to send thank you notes actually.  Plus, if she only got married 3 weeks ago she is still settling down (especially if she went on a HM right after).  Etiquette aside, no one thinks you should do thank you notes on your HM.  It would be rude to ask IMO even if you never ever receive one.
  • That is not a lot of time since her wedding, and definitely don't ask. That would be rude. My good friend got married at the end of May and I just got her thank you last week. Give it some time.

  • Opps sorry it was the end of June. I wasn't going to straight out ask her. Maybe she forgot ? Oh well ty for the heads up
  • Basic ettiquite gives up to 1 year to send a thank you although i think that is too long, give her a bit. June still is not that long ago. Personalizing each card, especially if you have a lot of guests can be tiring for the hand and time consuming. Don't call her on it.
  • Maybe you could ask her if she received your gift, and play it off like maybe it got lost in the mail or in the wedding?

And proper etiquette doesn't actually give you a year to send out thank you cards.
  • I just received a thank you note last week for a wedding that was in May. You just have to be patient.

  • it takes a lot to write thank yous. my shower was 3 weeks ago and i'm not even half way through writing them. they have to be personalized and whatnot. definitely give her some time!

  • I would probably wait 3-4 months before I even noticed a thank you wasn't received yet.
