Hello Ladies:

I am coming out of the Lurk-Set to join in all the fun that I have missed by just reading and not commenting. My date is August 13, 2011 and I am finally getting into excited planning mode.

This board seems to be full of warm and friendly ladies who truly care about each other. So, I figured I'd come on board and hang out in public for a change. If there are any rules I should be aware of let me know. I don't want to be the one that gets looked at sideways like oh, no she didn't cause I missed something. Thanks!

Welcome! Everyone here is great and extremely helpful..... There are some rules if you would like to read them but they are just standard knot rules under the welcome roll call sticky!!

Thanks! I am feeling the warm fuzzies already. We met on a blind date way back in 2004 at a Barnes and Noble bookstore after having emailed over the internet for about a week. That's why as you can see I have been with the knot for quite a while. He is an IT guy from Wales, United Kingdom and I am from Detroit.

He proposed in 2007 but we both went through long periods of unemployment so we weren't able to save up for a wedding. We had a civil ceremony last year for benefits reasons. But since we are both catholic we knew it would not be fully recognized as us being married according to the church.

So, believe it or not we still are required to go through pre-marriage seminars, natural family planning seminars, take what is called a focus test etc. They even want us to be physically separate until the church marries us!

The theme for the wedding is a sort of enchanted forest a la Emerald City/Wizard of Oz meets Alice in Wonderland type theme. But no costumes! Just lots of fairy tale style decor. So, it will be very multicolored.

I know this is very different from the way a lot of people have come to this point. But it is very important to both of us that we be wed according to the sacrament and recognized in the church.
