What is a carving station?

Hey guys! I officially JUST dropped off the deposit for the reception venue, so I need to start on another check!

My wp recommended a caterer and I'm on their website right now. They have carving stations. It sounds interesting...
But I dunno what it is! Please explain!

    A carving station is meat.  Either Turkey, or Roast beef typically.  They have the huge chunk of meat and a chef/carver stands there and slices meat fresh for the person at the station.

    To piggy back off of this... my cousin had a buffet at her wedding; with your standard choices (salad, pasta, 2 sides, 2 main dishes) but at the end of the line there was the carving station. I don't remember what type of beef it was, but like Dandelion said you are getting a piece of meat carved for you.
