Venue Selected! Dress Silhouette Confirmed! Excited, had to share

We signed the contract and put the deposit down on our venue. It feels wonderful to have that burden off our shoulders & I finally am excited about planning this "shindig"
We are holding everything at Spill the Wine. They have a wonderful upstairs loft space, wood floors, brick, large windows etc.. it is perfect for our graphic vintage affair. phew...

I also finally got a chance to try on a mermaid silhouette, being a size 14 this is a major feat. The silhouette was perfect for my petite hourglass figure, I finally felt beautiful in a wedding dress, not frumpy. Such a relief, now to find the perfect one... I can't wait. I am currently pretty obsessed with Junko Yoshioka http://www.junkoyoshioka.com/ but the closest retailer is in Chicago. ROAD TRIP!!

What wedding gown designers are you obsessed with right now?

exciting!  now you can take a breath & move on to other exciting decisions.

i was obsessed with monique lhuillier.  i wanted this flowy chiffon number from a past collection... and then found out it was over 3G. i love the gown i chose tho!  la sposa fanal (kinda popular, but i'll be the only one wearing it at my party!).

also, i was originally on a "I'm not spending more than $500" bender, and i loved the chiffony-strapless gowns from J. crew ($250-400). Their nearest bridal was in chicago tho, so I never got to even try one.

ps, I entertained the idea of having a "rehearsal dinner" at spill the wine (convenient location), but the reviews scared me away.  For your benefit, however, the reviews mentioned that they felt like all the attention/service was going to the 200person wedding upstairs... so at least you'll get priority! (i hope!)

Congrats on two big relievers! It does become way more fun when you can start the real planning, as opposed to just all the dreaming :)

There are couple other Spill The wine brides on here I think - so maybe they can offer some more insight. The space is awesome, esp for your "graphic vintage affair" , which sounds awesome btw!

I'm no help on the dresses, as I'm having mine made for me from my grandmothers (I do not recommend this. Its been really stressful, and several times, wish I woulda just bought a dress.- that being said though, I don't have the final dress in my hands, so until that happens, who knows?! Maybe then my heart will melt and it will all be worth it?!) Good luck on the hunt!

I was on the same $500 bender... that did not last long! Your dress is lovely, and I adore your attitude about it!!

I know, those reviews are horrid! We addressed them directly with Spill the Wine and also sampled a meal before signing the contract. Thankfully our meals were delicious and SW satisfied any concerns that we might have. I am confident that they will provide a wonderful evening for our guests.
  • How can I see photos of the Spill the Wine loft upstairs? Thanks for your help! The place sounds amazing!
