Coordinator dilema!!!!

So my day-of coordinator was one of the first things I booked. I was insistentthat I didn't want to worry about anything the day of (I have so many friends with horror stories of dealing w. vendor issues). The one I booked came highly recommended to me, and was very affordable. I made sure to confirm that she would be the one at the wedding, not some assistant I never met. All has been great and now I find out she is pregnant!!! Of course I'm happy for her, but selfishly I am freaking out! She is due one week from my wedding so I feel like realistically she wont be able to make it. Yes, I realize there are many women who work up until the day of, but I just cant count on that....what do I do!!

Re: Coordinator dilema!!!!

  •  I know a lot of people who deal without having a Day Of Coordinator so I would make sure you have everything planned and organized and have your MOH or mother be your point of contact if anything goes wrong(which I am sure it wont!) I wouldnt stress about it at all. You have plenty of time to get your day in order. That is just my 2 cents. Smile!

  • I would talk to her and see what she says.  Maybe she is going to have someone fill in for her and you can start keeping in contact with this new person so  you will be comfortable with them come your big day.

  • How did you find out she was pregnant? Did she tell you? I am sure she is going to have a back up plan and figure things out for all of the events she is in charge of.

The good news is there is still a lot of time before the wedding. What I am thinking will happen is she either has an assistant, or will find someone and they will work together on everything; until she is no longer able to work. Is there anything in your contract that states what will happen if the coordinator is no longer able to provide her services?

  • hmm even if she can work up til the wedding date, she is gonna be quite large by that point and most likely not able to just run around the wedding hall, could also be a distraction to have a pregnant lady hustling and bustling...I would assume she has someone else to fill it, but if you are only having someone for day of items, maybe you want to try and fine someone else? or get to know her assistant now as well. you dont want to be workign with a complete stranger on that day that doesnt know what you want.

  • i would try to find someone eles who is just as good who wont got in to labor at your wedding lol. if she has the baby before your wedding then she might still be recovering, but if she hasnt she wont be able to run around getting things done as fast as she would have not being prego. ive had two kids and i know when i was in my last two months it hurt to do anything and i wobbled everywhere lol

    good luck!
  • I am super organized so im not worried about the actual planning or anything, I just dont want to be the point of contact on my wedding day, and nor do I want any of my family or friends. I have been that for others, which of course I did for a friend, but let me tell you it def isnt enjoyable. I found out on facebook, so she hasnt officially come to me to say, hey guess what i'll be having a baby the week of your wedding, heres the plan! Right now she is solo, also on her facebook I saw she is looking to hire an assistant. This worries me because even if she hires someone tomorrow they wont have more than 6 months to work with her and 'train', and i signed up for her, not an assistant.
My contract doesnt really specify about her or an assistant so I will she what she says....on the brighter side, better her than one of my other venders right!?
