I don't know if any of you are familiar with St. John the Evangelist RC church in Pocasset/Bourne, but I'm getting married there this month (it's my mom's church). Last weekend, at mass, it was announced that Father Bob Donovan, the pastor there, suffered a stroke last Thursday, so severe that he wasn't responding, needed to be put on a respirator, and unfortunately, was not expected to live once they removed life support (which they did, I believe, last Sunday afternoon).
I just heard word from my mother this morning that, while he was being given last rites, Father Bob opened his eyes and started breathing on his own (we'd believed for the past few days that he had not survived)! I don't have all the details (perhaps someone else on the board knows more?) but would ask for thoughts and prayers for Father Bob's continued recovery.
Father Bob was supposed to marry FI and me, and while I am disappointed that he won't be able to (it'd likely take another miracle), I'm just glad that he's still with us!
