RSVP wording for buffet reception?

Hey,

I'm scratching my head trying to figure out how to word the RSVP cards because I don't have a meal choice and people are invited with plus 1s, so when they check the "accept" box, how do I know if they're coming solo or with a guest?

I really don't want to write "___ Attending with guest"  but I can't seem to find this answer anywhere...

Thanks!!!
-Helen

Re: RSVP wording for buffet reception?

  • If you just leave it with the M_____________________
People are supposed to fill it in like:
Miss Kristen Lastname and Fiance Lastname
    x
    will attend
    __ will not attend

I'm sure people mess it up sometimes, but I think it's pretty obvious. Most weddings I have attended did not have an entree selection ahead of time and it was never that confusing. If I was going alone, I just wrote my name.
  • If you can't tell how many people they RSVP'd for, just call them and ask.

Dresses may be easier to take in than let out, but guest lists are not. -- kate51485
  • FWIW, I'm having a buffet and I included an entree selection... my caterer is pretty young and new, so I figured I could help her out by letting her know which choice more people seem to be interested in (but we're not going to hold them to the slection they make)
  • You could just have another line with a blank for number attending.

This is what we did on my girl's RSVP cards, since there were teenagers involved in some of the families (and you can never tell if a teen is going to be interested in attending a wedding or not!) and every single card came back with the number part filled in-usually the same number that had been invited, but some with a smaller number.  Ours were something like this:

M__________________________________(we chose not to pre-fill in the names)

    ________ will attend       ________number attending

    ________ not able to attend
  • We did:

    M___________

    ___ Will attend

    ___ Will not attend

    ____ # Adults attending

    ____ # Children attending

Or something like that.  Obviously, it included an age cut off.
