Phil - our newest foster. He had some issues, but we were willing to work with him (humping, marking, food issues).
He wasn't fast enough to catch Jake, so the humping wasn't an issue.
Marking - well, our house doesn't really have any smells to mark over, so that only lasted a day.
The food issues....well, I think they mis-represented those. He was quite food aggressive. On Sunday, Phil got into the trash and pulled out some old corn & goat cheese quesidillas. I saw him and told H. H got to the scene before I did (I was wrapped up in a blanket on the couch). By the time I was up and not even half-way around the couch - I heard the skirmish.
H was yelling and Phil was snarling. Phil had taken a bite out of H's foot, before H had even said anything to him or tried to take the food away. I saw H with Phil in his arms and I picked up the food.
At first, it didn't seem so bad. However, when H started to take out the trash, he started bleeding. So, this was a deal breaker. If Jake had happened upon the scene, I am sure he would have tried to take some food and he would have been injured. We can't have that - so, Phil is going to back to his original foster home.
We gave it the good old college try, but the food aggression was one thing we knew we wouldn't be able to deal with. My first responsibility is to Jake and we have to keep him safe. I am so sorry and feel like I failed Phil, but someone else is going to take him and they'll find him a good home.
