Dresses?

I am having 1 maid of honor, 1 matron of honor and 1 bridesmaid in my wedding.

They are all built differently and I don't think we'd ever find one dress which looks good on everyone. I am pretty sure 2 of them are going to go with a short dress, and 1 has gone with a short in front/long in back as far as what she likes.

I am giving them free reign as long as it's the right color- but do you think it would look bad with 2 short, and 1 dress half/half?

Re: Dresses?

  • I really think it's a personal preference.  Is there anyway you could get them all in the dresses of their choices together so you could see what it would look like?

  • They are definitely allowed to wear what they want as far as style/cut, but I'm worried that if we have 1 short, 1 long, and then 1 short and long it's just going to look 'off'. I wasn't sure if there was a general guideline to follow so that no one just sticks out like a sore thumb.

My second fear is that the half short, half long will be to formal for an outdoor August wedding.

  • What do the short dresses look like?  Are they made out of satin as well?

  • I was in a wedding and each BM wore a dress they had or purchased and the only guideline the bride gave was what color to wear. She had 7 BM and wanted 2 in Clover, 2 in Cognac and 3 in Black. She ended up with 1 in Clover, 1 in Olive, 1 in Taupe, 1 in Chocolate and 3 in Black. Three of us were in shorter dresses(1 was tea lenght, 1 was at the knee and the last was midthigh) and 4 in long dresses. They were different fabrics and although I wouldn't do something like that, it worked and looked good.

Like PP have said, if you're unsure, have them over and see what they look like together.

  • I know one good site: JenJenHouse.com. I recently bought one dress from them.

It arrived on time as promised and seriously is amazing! I paid 100.00 for this dress and it looks like I paid 500 for it! So pleased with this purchase!

Also, recently they have an activity on their FB. You could go and have a look.

You could also see the reviews on their website first and then decide.
