GM attire question

I want everyone to be comfortable. With the wedding being in July I'm worried everyone will get too hot. Our ceremony will be outside at 3pm. I'm starting to wonder if the guys should wear the jacket to their tuxes or not. What is everyone else doing?

I'm also getting concerned with the prices I've been seeing. We have a couple standing up in the wedding and having them both paying for their outfits would be really expensive. I don't know if the price would be reduced if we don't get the jackets or if you still have to pay for the whole thing and just not use them.

Re: GM attire question

  • July 4, at 4:30 pm, is our wedding date/time.  We are having the groom/groomsmen wear their jackets (tails) for the wedding.  We are on the river (sometimes quite windy) at a castle (picture large, cold stones).  The ceremony takes place in a large stone gazebo on the grounds so hopefully, it won't melt the "boys",

I'm sure the weather there is going to be much nicer than here, but I have friends that are getting married in May that think it will be too hot for jackets so they are just having the groom wear his jacket and the rest of the guys in suspenders with their pants and shirts. I think it also depends on how formal the wedding is. If it's outdoors and more casual I wouldn't suggest having them sweat it out.

  • Our ceremony is also outside at 4:30 and the guys will be wearing their coats too. Our ceremony will only last about 20 minutes tops though, so after pictures are done, they will be free to take them off! And I think that when you rent a tux, you rent the whole thing, jacket included. I could be wrong but I've never seen the option to go jacket-less before.

  • Ours will be outside at 6:15 under a tent. The GMs will be wearing jackets while the ushers will not wear one. We made sure to pick out a light jacket when we reserved our tuxes.

Usually there is a deal if you get like 5 tuxes and then the groom gets a free tux. You could always split up the cost with the other GMs (including the groom). Ask about a deal too. I asked them about a deal that I saw at the bridal show and they gladly gave us the deal (we didn't even have to show proof or anything).

  • Our wedding is outside and since our ceremony is going to be relatively short, the guys are going to be wearing their jackets.I'm not sure what time it's going to be, but I'm sure they will all be okay. Although, I'm not a bridezilla about it. If it's 100 degrees and extremely humid, I won't make them wear the jackets.
