cake toppers out of style?

Most cake pictures I see have either flowers or monograms as the cake topper. Are the traditional bride and groom (the reason for the wedding) not good for a cake topper anymore? I really want a crystal bride and groom topper, but everyone seems to be telling me not to get a cake topper at all. Any ideas?

If you want it then get it.  Think of it as retro.

I am having a bride and groom cake topper. Mine are a family tradition though. They have been on every cake for generations.

I don't think the traditional ones are out of style, I think what's happened is that people who don't want them are realizing they don't have to get one. If traditional is your thing, go for it!

I'd say, if you want that, get it! It's your wedding! I don't think they are out of style. I just think people are getting creative and personalized with their wedding details.

We had a bride/groom topper with fresh flowers around it.  We wanted the traditional, but wanted to make it a little more modern.

If that's what floats your boat, go for it.  We're having 2 Star Wars figures on top (I want a wookie and an ewok, but FI wants Princess Leia and Han Solo) of ours.  Yeah, it's weird, but I want to do it for FI.

I think cake toppers are great, but I personally do not care for the bride/groom ones.  FI and I  both LOVE music, but I am having a hard time finding a cake topper that is shaped like musical instruments.  I may end up DIYing ours!
