Need a little help..

I had a coupon code for a free photobook from Shutterfly, so I decided to make it into our guest book. I decided to make the book black because I thought black looked the best with our engagements photos. Now, I don't know what kind of pens to get that will write on black and not smear (the paper is slick). Help? Any suggestions for me?

Here's our book..

  • Yes, what Brie said. They dry pretty quickly.
  • I thought about silver sharpies, but the tips on them aren't very fine, so I wasn't sure if it would write too big or not.
  • I think they have them in the fine tip. I'd check with a craft store.

  • You actually want what sharpie calls "extra fine" fine is not as skinny as its sounds.
Any metallic gell "paint" pens will work too, you could get a set of some different colors if you want.

  • Go to your local craft store, in the scrapbooking pen section, and get a silver archival pen.  I got ours at Michaels and it was only a couple bucks.   Any regular pen will smear.  We did the same kind of guest book and my H's Uncle used a regular pen and it smeared all over that page.

You guys are probably right. Those (silver sharpies) are more than likely the best way to go. I'm just going to get those and stop worrying about it. =)
  • I should clarify, our pages were white so we had a black pen, but they have different colors so silver should work great for you.

I bought a silver paint pen, but my only problem with those was that it required a lot of shaking to get the paint going once it dried up. I thought that our guests would just think that it didn't work and would try to use another pen.

No, it's just a pen but it's specially for writing in books and on paper like that so it won't damage the pages and won't fade over time, and it won't smear.

That sounds perfect actually. I'm going to go to Hobby Lobby here in a little bit and look for it. Thanks!
  • You're welcome!  You will definitely find them there.

  • This is genius!  I need to get one of those books.  And an archival pen to go with it.  ;-)
